Today we reviewed for Friday's test. The problems we worked out today are worked out in purple ink.
Today we covered Lesson 4 of Module 1, creating & graphing linear equations in two variables. We discussed how to identify key words that indicate a rate of change, as well as key words that indicate a constant. We graphed equations from slope-intercept form (y = mx + b), and discussed how to appropriately number the x & y-axis when dealing with large numbers.
Absences next Monday, August 20th will be excused in line with PCSB policy. We will spend the class reviewing for next Friday's test; no new material will be covered. My Financial Algebra classes should complete p.11-12 #1-10 for classwork/homework. There was no formal instruction today during 1st or 4th periods due to class assemblies and the district mandated anti-bullying lessons.
Today we completed Lesson 1.1, Identifying Terms, Factors, and Coefficients. I did Example 3 for the class and they worked through the problem-based task on page 9 in pairs. We also reviewed last nights homework assignment. HW: p.10 #7, 9.
Today we discussed identifying terms, coefficients, and constant terms within an algebraic expression. We also worked on building algebraic expressions to represent real-world situations. HW: p.10 #1-5
Welcome back! I am thrilled to be teaching Financial Algebra, Pre-Calculus Honors, Calculus Honors, and AP Calculus AB this year. This will be my fourth year teaching Pre-Calculus and Calculus, and my first teaching Financial Algebra (it is a brand new course for our district).
I enjoyed meeting and speaking with students and parents at orientation the other day. Syllabi will be distributed to students today, along with lots of other pertinent information. Please be sure click the name of your student's course under CLASSES on the right sidebar in order to access the postings for their classes. If you do not click on a category to filter the posts, the blog will list postings for all four of my classes. The Parent Contact Information Survey should be completed at http://tinyurl.com/marazzi-survey no later than Friday, August 18th. I look forward to a great year. Go Hounds! |
