The Module 4 Test 1 Study Guide is below. The test will take place on Tuesday, December 5th.
Below are the sample problems for Module 4 Lesson 2, which we completed in class on November 15th. CW & HW for the section was p. 22 #1-10 (graphs only #1-4, equations only #5-10); and p.23 (graphs only #1-4, equations only #5-10).
Here are the notes we took today for Module 4 Lesson 1, which covers writing equations and inequalities to solve problems pertaining to employment. Homework was p.13 #1-9.
Below is the study guide for Tuesday’s test over Module 3 Sections 5, 6, and 9. Here is the key to the Polynomials Worksheet (Module 3, Lesson 6). Remember to Keep, Flip, Change when subtracting polynomials! :) This section reviews writing and solving systems of equations. We reviewed solving systems of equations by graphing; students should be able to perform this task for the test and be capable of interpreting the solution in the context of the original problem.
Many of the word problems in the workbook contain values that would make solving them by hand extremely difficult, if not impossible. For this reason, students were introduced to the DESMOS graphing calculator (available on tablets, laptops, or as a free app for iPhone or Android). I have allowed students to solve all of the systems of equations in the word problem questions with the graphing app so they can focus on the actual setup of the equations. However, it is imperative that students are still able to solve systems of equations when graphing by hand — the questions on the test will be similar to questions #1-4 on the 3-6 practice pages. Module 3 Lesson 5 reviewed writing and solving linear equations. We completed the practice problems and page 49 together in class. Homework for this section is pp.51-52, #1-10.
